I Will Never Give Up Trying To Help My Son

sherica4

Imagine not being being able to tell someone what’s on your mind.

Imagine not being able to tell someone if you’re having a hard day.

Imagine not being able to tell someone that your tummy hurts.

Imagine not being able to tell someone that you’re upset.

Imagine not being able to tell someone that you’re feeling down and why.

Imagine not being able to tell someone why you can’t sleep.

Imagine not being able to tell someone that you’re happy.

Imagine not being able to communicate.

Imagine being a mother and your child cries out and you don’t know what’s wrong.

Imagine being a mother and not being able to comfort your child during their distress.

Imagine being a mother having to guess what your child needs.

Imagine being a mother and feeling completely helpless when it comes to the difficulties your child has.

Imagine it….

I am that mother and my son is that child.

This is our life with autism.

Some days are great, some days are not.

I pray with my whole heart that my son will obtain the ability to communicate in some way the thoughts on his mind.

I long to hear how his day at school was or how he’s feeling.

Until then, I’m that mother who will never give up trying to help my son no matter the road blocks we encounter.

Autism doesn’t come with an instruction manual but it does come with a mother who will never give up!
