Remember, Your Sister Talks to Angels

Recently my daughter Sage who holds her feelings in like they never existed, who would rather use her fists to deal with hurt, broke.

Her sky blue eyes welled up and her upper lip quivered as a stream of salty tears spilled down her cheeks.

My dearest Sage,

You have a job more important than other kids your age. Not only do you have to protect your littlest sister from dangerous situations, you must also protect her from hate and evil.

Sage, there will always be mean people who spew hate. Yes it hurts, and I applaud you for standing up and teaching them about your sister.

God has chosen you to be this person, however unfair that may seem. You will educate the uneducated, you will stand up for those who can not do it themselves.

I am sorry the neighbor boy spoke mean words like the ‘R’ word and mocked her happy flaps.

You held yourself with grace and truth.

Perhaps he is angry that he doesn’t have the same support system you have from your family; the same protector that Aspen has in you.

I wish I could take your pain away.

Consider this one of many times Aspen will need you.  This will prepare you for the rest of your life with your little sister.

When I am gone, you will be there.

You are a compassionate, yet stern beautiful soul.

Remember, your sister talks to Angels.

God sees your heart.

The world sees your beauty, and remember, it’s okay to cry.  You may be a beacon of light for this little boy.

Keep protecting and advocating, lady; others will follow. Aspen loves you and thanks you with her loud cuddles.

Be loud. I am so very proud of your beautiful soul. You are destined for great things. You are a natural born leader.

I love you, Mom
