Letter to My Daughter on Her Birthday

SuperKid Celia 121019-131 (1)

I cannot believe it has been 6 years since I held you for the first time. I remember laying you on my chest and looking into your big blue eyes.

In that moment, I knew I would never love anyone the way I do you. Since then, you have made my world go ’round.

Celia, you complete me in ways I didn’t know I needed. Not only do you complete me, but you show me what true love is and how to love more. Having you as my little girl has made me a better person.

Our life may not be like everyone else, but I can honestly say I couldn’t imagine us any other way.

I will not use this time to talk about things we may miss out on because there’s so much we can do together. We have a bond that no one can break and I am so thankful for it.

I am thankful for so many things. Some of those is being able to homeschool you and go to PT with you everyday. I know how lucky I am to have these moments, and want to soak up every one I can.

I love watching you grow and get stronger each day. You have perseverance that I’ve never seen before you. It encourages me to keep going even in our darkest times. You know all too well of pain, but how you keep going and push through amazes me.

I am in awe of your strength and ability to not give up.

In just six years, you have inspired more people than most do in a lifetime. Everyone always compliments you on your strength, joy, intelligence, bravery and most of all that contagious smile.

As soon as I see you, you make my day better, and that smile sends me over the moon.

Over everything else, I am most honored to be your mama. It has given me the greatest joy watching you grow into the girl you are today. And yes, you will always have to work hard to do things that may come easily to others, but YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE MEANT TO BE. Don’t ever forget that.

I promise I will be by your side every step of the way. When your feet are tired from walking I will carry you.

If your hand is sore from using your power chair I will push you.

When your heart hurts from cruel words I will hold you. I will wipe away your tears and hug you when you need it most.

It’s okay to be different because all of the best people are, and you’re the best person I know. You are my light and love.

I am so proud of you Celia, and I am so thankful to celebrate your 6th birthday today. I cherish it and every day with you by my side.

You are my superhero and I cannot wait to see what you accomplish this year.

Happy Birthday Celia!

I love you more than anything!

Mama
