I am Thankful for My Sister

I am so thankful for my sister and godmother. She is amazing hands down!

She has been with me from the very beginning of my son’s autism diagnosis when he was four. From my grieving, unanswered questions, mixed emotions and through tears I faced.

Through every meltdown, challenges and struggle he faced and still faces, she has loved up on him and helped me and my husband face this head on.

She reminds us we’re not alone.

My son Jason even inspired her to learn more about autism in a class and work in a spectrum preschool.

My son Jason is currently 7 years old and non verbal. He uses sign language and sometimes speaks.

He has been learning to hug since kindergarten as a way to express love and emotion. It’s been a learning milestone for him.

My family and I went to visit my sister in California. When my sister had to go home and said, “bye”, and was giving him kisses he ran up to hug her.

I was so surprised. I teared up in that moment watching him express himself as a milestone. He loves and admires her.

Their bond is unbreakable.

My sister has been there with her open arms of acceptance, understanding, and having the passionate love for Jason and now my recent second addition daughter, Maci. She loves Jason and Maci as if they were her own.

She’s truly my rock through the tough days and good days of Jason’s autism. I’m so very grateful as she is the biggest blessing and is truly amazing!

Because of her, I know my husband and I are not alone.

I love you so very much Heather…to the moon and back.
