Their Special Bond

This morning we were running around getting three kids ready to leave the house.

Packing lunches, finding school iPads, headphones and chargers, gathering snow gear…it was a lot.

We are definitely out of practice.

Jamie noticed that Coops put his shoes on the wrong feet. It happens quite frequently but we are also so proud of him for putting his shoes on that we don’t mind fixing them.

Sawyer, who was soaking up his last few minutes of holiday break, and zoning out watching his iPad, must have heard us.

Which is bizarre because that kids selective hearing game is strong.

The next thing I see is him fixing his brother’s shoes.

It stopped me in my tracks.

I also overheard him say…’I will be in the school building if you need me Cooper, just find me.’

These two. They shared a twin bed again last night. There is just something between them.

Like oil and water and yet utterly devoted to each other.

Finding Cooper’s Voice is a safe, humorous, caring and honest place where you can celebrate the unique challenges of parenting a special needs child. Because you’re never alone in the struggles you face. And once you find your people, your allies, your village….all the challenges and struggles will seem just a little bit easier.
