When my son’s was diagnosed with autism at age 3, neither my husband nor I knew a child with autism. My husband and I were alone. We would say all the time…where are the families like ours? The ones who can’t leave the house? Where are the kids like Cooper? Where are the siblings like Sawyer?

I searched for 8 years and never found them. So I created it.

I would love to invite you to join Coop’s Troops, an online subscription group for parents of children and adults with autism. In the group our number one goal is to help you make a friend. Because you don’t have to be alone.

Weekly, we do zooms, chats, interviews, lives, and educational videos. I promise you will find another person who understands what you are going through.

We also do a book club, a wellness group, a prayer group, even meet-ups. All are optional and you can be as involved as you want to be.

Last night I found 50 plus people in the Midwest who live my life. We laughed, cried, hugged and chatted for hours. I am in awe how we all walk the same path. And we do it with joy, honesty, dignity and adoration for our children.

Make connections friends. You cannot do this alone. You need people in your life who understand.

Because others often say it better than me…here is a post from a mom. She drove from Iowa with her adult daughter to be with us. Her adult son is autistic. She is one of those moms who paved the way for me. So this post made my day.

‘Ok you guys! My daughter and I are resting comfortably in our hotel room after an absolutely wonderful evening with 50 other gals at the Midwest meetup with Kate. If someone sets one up in your area you must go! To be face to face with other moms who you get to go straight to the point with. Who get it. We were all just so happy to be in the company of each other! Our tribe is awesome isn’t it?’

If I help just one mom not to feel so alone. If my words can get them up off the bathroom floor. To make a phone call to a friend. To know that she isn’t alone. Well, then I’ve done my job.

Build your village. Stalk the schools looking for moms. Send a text. Show up. It will change your life.
