To my Partner in Life

My name is Amber and I am hard of hearing and an autism mother. I want to thank my husband, the man who is always fighting for awareness of our autistic son.

This is going on year 3 since I found out about the autism diagnosis of my son, Jason. I remember being in the room the diagnosis day and just was feeling all mixed emotions.

I was speechless going through the whole evaluation with my son. I just wanted to go home and cuddle my son and be done with the diagnosis.

To going through with grieving and what the future holds, feeling at loss with words and emotions, ext…I was in acceptance but was going through with the grieving.

My husband, Jose without any hesitation accepted and was processing the whole diagnosis. My husband is deaf and our son is non verbal so Jose teaches him sign language.

Our son showed an interest in sign language and still to this day uses some signs.

Our son Jason looks up to his father. My husband has always been motivated and hands on with Jason’s spectrum development and education.

He has unconditional love, positivity, encouragement, and above all…he always has hope in Jason.

Since then we have added on a new addition which is our beautiful daughter and my husband is a supporting father to her as well.

I am thankful for my amazing husband and for never giving up. He’s a blessing.

Going through this autism journey together, facing every challenge, has made us a team.

I love you my man.

We are always fighting for awareness for our living son. There are good and bad days.

It’s never easy but all disabilities are beautiful and amazing.
