Welcome to the Autism Club

Talking about the journey of an Autism parent. It’s a long, winding journey with many ups and downs. And often we can feel so alone. I want to tell you that we are all on the same team. Autism, whether it’s high functioning or low functioning, is hard. We are all trying to give our kids the best life possible. We are all part of the A-club.

We Are All Part of the Autism Club

Talking about the journey of an Autism Parent. In the beginning I denied my son had a disability. The word Autism scared the hell out of me. Then, around age 2 as my son’s delays were more evident, I fought for that diagnosis. Then I had it. And immediately I was in the Autism Club. Only I felt like I never fit in. Support groups and Facebook groups only made me feel more alone. My son was nonverbal. He seemed more severe than all the kids I met. And then as time went on, instead of just being jealous of the typical kiddos, I was jealous of the ASD kiddos that spoke. Now, 6 years in, I understand we are all on the same team.
Autism, whether it’s high functioning or low functioning, is hard. We are all trying to give our kids the best life possible. We are all part of the A-club. #autism
